How does one know if a Sterling Silver hallmark is a fake?
I bought some (supposedly) 925 Sterling Silver bangles on eBay (they come from Hong Kong) and the hallmark seals for some of them look a bit strange to me. Instead of looking like a seal (fairly deeply engraved in the body of the piece of jewellery), that one is just a '925' still engraved on the inside of the bangle, but lighter and bigger and not looking as 'authentic'. Some of the other bracelets I have bought from the same suppliers do bear the hallmark sign which looks more familiar and authentic to me, that is why I am asking myself the question...
Can there be different types of authentic hallmark seals (are they called 'seals'?)? If so, does the one I am describing seem alright to the ones of you in the know or should I get in touch with my seller?
Also, does anyone know an easy way of testing sterling silver?

The 925 hallmark is an English silver hallmark just like 375 for 9ct yellow gold. I wouldn't expect Hong Kong to use the same hallmark - I reckon they're fake, sorry hun! x
